ABOUT
‘Were it not for the storyteller, civilisation would destroy itself’
Albert Camus
Our lives are stories. Stories give meaning to our lives and the world, they create a sense of continuity and belonging, they evoke our emotions, stimulate our senses, and nourish our imagination.
NACUSSO (Natural and Cultural Soundscape and Storytelling Organisation) works in the intersection of culture, learning and research, and aims to create memorable Sound Stories using as primary materials the sounds of nature and the city, and the stories of the people. Our Sound Stories take many different forms: from sensory walks to soundmaps, mobile applications, and performances.
NACUSSO was founded in 2014. Since then NACUSSO has collaborated with cultural, learning and research institutions in the UK, Greece, Germany, the Czech Republic and the United Arabic Emirates. Our aim is to use our Sound Stories as means to promote cultural and social change through acoustic ecology, storytelling and oral history interventions. You are welcome to explore our projects and celebrate with us the unique stories of the people and places around the world.
